Shout!

If you haven’t heard of it, Shout! is a musical based on the life of Johnny O’Keefe. And there ends my knowledge of the story haha. The Tamworth Musical Society is currently in the middle of its run of this show, and I have been lucky enough to be able to help do the makeup for the actors. Got my name in the program and all! I’m not really doing entire faces so much as floating between dressing rooms helping people that can’t do specific things.  Continue reading

I Finally Got Naked!

Pun intended!

I finally gave in and bought both Naked pallettes a few weeks ago. Now I don’t know why I held off for so long! I can totally see why everyone raves about these now. I love how you go to swatch it and it comes out on your finger exactly as intense as in the pallette. The colours are amazing and you could seriously blend them forever. I realise I’m extremely late to the “Sing The Praises Of The Naked Pallettes’ party, so I’m not saying anything that hasn’t already been said, but I’m seriously in love. I can’t wait to try these on a bridal party, they’ll be just perfect. I know they have been swatched a million times on the internet, but not on me they haven’t! So here they are, Naked 1 and 2, up Continue reading

Things I Want To Blog About Soon

Its been way too long since I last posted!!!! I don’t really have a good excuse either so instead of trying to make one, I will instead make a short list of things I want to write about in the next little while:

-Naked Pallettes

-Shout!

-Analysis Paralysis

-Pinterest and scrapbooking Continue reading

Getting The Ball Rolling

I did my first two paid faces for Rubystar today! I’m not charging much at this stage, only $20 a face unless its something really elaborate. As I get more experience I will feel comfortable setting my prices higher, but I want to build my portfolio of work a bit more first. The frst face I did was for my friend Hannah who I work with. She was attending a wedding and was wearing a black and white dress. She wanted something silver and grey that was understated and natural that was still noticeably different from her day to day makeup so this is what I did:

Operation Get Sexy Back

I have a confession to make: I haven’t been to the gym for about 4-5 weeks. I have also subsisted on a diet mainly comprised of McMuffins, Nerds, biscuits, Easy Mac and fizzy drink. I have fallen off the horse in spectacular fashion, concussion, scraped knees, broken collarbone, the works (metaphorically of course). I think I’ve certainly had my reasons to be stressed out and distracted, but horrendous skin, a gradually thickening waistline, shrinking muscles, and overall sluggishness aren’t exactly doing wonders for my confidence, and enough is enough.  Continue reading

My Non Negotiable Goals For The Week Ahead

My goals for the week are as follows and I intend to bloody stick to them damn it!

Get up at a reasonable time every day. Notice I did’t say ‘early’ because by my usual standards even 7:45am is pretty early, but that’s not going to cut it this week.

Pick something nice to wear, do hair and makeup every day.

BE THE HELL ON TIME!

Take breakfast and morning tea every day. Continue reading

Opposite Day and My First Attempt At Face Charts

Today I decided I wanted to try two contrasting looks in the form of neutral eyes and dark lips, then dark eyes and neutral lips. Both of these looks have the same base, I just layered the dark eyes over the top. I don’t know which one is my favourite, I’m tempted to say the smoky eye but its because I always do things like that. I’m not used to seeing myself with clear, light eye makeup and dark lips, but I’m trying to be more versatile. Continue reading

New Eyeshadow EEEEEE!

I bought a new eyeshadow pallette the other day and I’m really excited about it. Have you ever seen on ebay a MAC 120 pallette? They are totally fake because MAC doesn’t do a pallette like that, but the thing is, the eyeshadows are actually pretty decent. Lots of companies buy these pallettes from the same place and put their own brand on it, so you will see lots of pallettes with exactly the same colours in the same places by companies like BH, Coastal Scents, Crush etc. I bought one from Crush the other day because it was reasonably cheap (about $30 plus $9-10 for overnight delivery) and today I took the liberty of swatching them all for you. Its a bit of a mixed bag in terms of pigmentation, some of them are just not going to turn out how they are in the pallette because they are too chalky, but for the most part, they are silky and bright. It just varies from one to the next how good the quality is. That’s what I was expecting for the price, and I’m happy with the amount of good ones.

This is the pallette:
